Rajshahi University ICT Center Director withdraws resignation announcement.
Rajshahi University (RU) ICT Center Director Professor Dr. Saiful Islam had announced his resignation, calling the incident of blocking teachers, officials and employees and forcing the university administration to accept the demand for cancellation of pet quota humiliating. A day later, he withdrew the announcement.
He made the announcement in a post on his Facebook account at midnight on Saturday.
In that post, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam wrote, Responding to the call of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, I have withdrawn my resignation from the post of Director of the ICT Center. The only owner of honor and dignity is Allah Subhanahu Taala. May the Honorable Vice Chancellor Sir be able to fulfill the rightful rights of the trust he has placed in me. Amen. I seek prayers from everyone.
Earlier, in a post on his Facebook account on Friday, Professor Saiful Islam wrote that outsiders led by Salauddin Ammar had held more than two hundred teachers, officials and employees (some of whom were women, elderly and sick) hostage in cages for 12 hours demanding the abolition of pet quota. For the past two months, a few students like Ammar have been continuously abusing and organizing programs against RU teachers, officials, employees and their families in indecent and inaudible language. This is unacceptable in any way. As a teacher of this university, I strongly protest this and demand fair trial.
He also wrote that as a member of the administration, I cannot accept this insult and humiliation in the way the university administration has been forced to accept the demands. In protest, I am announcing my resignation from the post of ICT Director of Rajshahi University. My resignation letter will be formally sent to the administration on the first working day of next week.
