Robbery in Madaripur under the guise of DB, 4 arrested
Shibchar Police Station has arrested 4 members of a gang of robbers in Madaripur. During this, 3 microbuses and 1 private car were recovered. Assistant Superintendent of Police (Shibchar Circle) Md. Salah Uddin Quader gave this information at a press conference on Thursday (January 1) afternoon. The arrested are Al Amin (36), son of Haider Ali of Dhapadanga village of Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district, Parvez Hossain (30), son of Kamal Hossain of Hemayetpur area of Savar, Zakir Islam (23), son of Abdul Mannan of Adarshgram area of Domar upazila of Nilphamari district, and Sabuj Hossain (34), son of Kurgaon Maudi Islam of Savar.
Police said at the press conference that on the night of November 21, a businessman named Md. Soleman was returning to his home in Sheikhpur, Shibchar after repairing a microbus from the capital Dhaka. When they reached the Jaduarchar area of Shibor, two microbuses disguised as DB police stopped Soleiman’s microbus. Later, the robbers threatened Soleiman with arrest and snatched his microbus. They beat him up and left him in the Panchchar area. Upon receiving the information, the police rescued the victim that night and admitted him to the hospital. Soleiman himself filed a case with the Shibchar police station in this incident. Later, with the help of information technology, the police conducted a drive in Comilla, Cox’s Bazar and Savar areas and arrested Al Amin, Parvez Hossain, Zakir Islam and Sabuj Hossain. At that time, 3 microbuses and 1 private car were recovered from them. The fake number plates of several cars used in the robbery were seized. After legal proceedings against the arrested, they were produced before the district court. Later, the judge ordered that all four be sent to jail.
