Robbers throw passenger from roof of moving train

A passenger was seriously injured by miscreants after being thrown from the roof of a moving train in Joypurhat. The incident took place on the Panchagarh-bound Ekta Express train in Chakarghunath area of Akkelpur upazila at around 6:30 pm on Sunday (August 10). The injured person has been identified as Aminur Islam (32). He is a resident of Dakshin Palashbari village in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur and works as a cook in the Fire Service and Civil Defense in Pabna. According to local sources, Aminur Islam was returning home while sitting on the roof of the train. On the way, two robbers tried to snatch his bag, mobile phone and money. When he resisted, a scuffle broke out and the robbers pushed him off the moving train and threw him down. Locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and first took him to Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was admitted to Joypurhat General Hospital for advanced treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital’s ortho-surgery department. Victim Aminur Islam said, I work in Pabna. I was going home on leave. The kidnappers took everything and threw me off the train. Dr. Asif Adnan, a doctor at the emergency department of Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex, said that the patient was given primary treatment here and quickly referred to Joypurhat.
