Robber’s bullet-riddled body recovered from Rohingya camp
The Armed Police Battalion (APBN) has recovered the bullet-riddled body of a robber from the Nayapara registered Rohingya camp in Hnila union of Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The body was recovered from the Bikash intersection area of the Nayapara camp on Wednesday (January 14) morning.
Inspector Sushanta Kumar Sarkar, in-charge of the Nayapara camp of APBN police, confirmed the matter. It is learned that the deceased robber has been identified as Abdur Rahim (50), son of Habibur Rahman, a resident of Nayapara in Ward No. 7 of Hnila union of Teknaf upazila.
Police said that Abdur Rahim is a known robber and there are several cases against him on various charges, including robbery. Meanwhile, Inspector Sushanta Kumar Sarkar said that after receiving information from locals in the morning, the police went to the spot and recovered the bullet-riddled body on the side of the road.
Quoting locals, he said that multiple gunshots were heard in the Nayapara camp area at midnight last Monday. Later, while going to offer Fajr prayers in the morning, locals saw a body of a person lying in a pool of blood in the Bikash More area and informed the police.
The initial police assumption is that the murder could have been committed due to internal gang conflict or a struggle for dominance. However, an investigation is underway to uncover the real cause of the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Earlier, on January 10, a Rohingya terrorist named Nur Kamal was killed while trying to dominate the same camp.
