Road accident in Uganda kills 63

At least 63 people have been killed in a collision between two buses on a highway in western Uganda. Several others were injured in the incident.
The Anadolu Agency said the accident occurred at midnight on Wednesday (October 22).
The two buses reportedly collided head-on near the town of Kiriandonga due to overtaking. Such accidents often occur in Uganda due to narrow roads. Usually, casualties occur in almost the same place due to excessive speed. However, the death of 63 people at once is somewhat unusual.
Uganda Red Cross spokeswoman Irene Nakasita said that the injured, whose arms and legs were broken, were lying in a pool of blood after the horrific accident. She said the situation there was dire.
The country’s police said in a post on social media ‘X’ that some people were rescued unconscious at the time of the accident. Some of them may have been initially included in the list of dead by mistake.
