Riot in Bhanga, 21 people including two chairmen arrested

A case has been filed in connection with the attack, vandalism and arson on various government establishments including the Bhanga Police Station UNO office and Upazila Election Office in Faridpur. 21 people including two Union Parishad (UP) chairmen and many unknown others have been accused in this.
Bhanga Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Azadur Rahman has filed the case as the plaintiff. Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rakibuzzaman confirmed the matter on Saturday (September 20) morning.
According to sources in the case, Bhanga Hamirdi Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Md. Khokon Mia and Tujarpur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Oliur Rahman, along with 21 others, have been named. In addition, a case has been filed against several unknown others.
OC Md. Rakibuzzaman told us that an ambulance, three police vehicles, several motorcycles and other government properties were vandalized in the violence. This caused a loss of about 65 lakh taka. A case has been filed in this incident. He further said that on September 15, the protesters vandalized and set fire to various government establishments including the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) office, Upazila Election Office, Bhanga Police Station, Highway Police Office.
