Resignation of some people will not affect the party: Akhtar

Talks are underway to form an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, but the decision has not been finalized, said National Citizens Party (NCP) member secretary Akhtar Hossain. He said that the resignation of some people will not affect the party. Today, Sunday (December 28) at around 11 am, Akhtar Hossain went to the court to apply for bail in the fascist era oppression case. He said this while talking to reporters later.
Earlier, yesterday, Saturday (December 27), 30 leaders of the party wrote a letter to NCP convener Nahid Islam expressing their principled objection to the alliance. It was mentioned that such an alliance would create confusion and disappointment among many NCP workers, supporters and especially the young generation who support new style politics. They also said that joining the alliance for a few seats is a betrayal of the nation.
Incidentally, the party’s joint convener Tajnuva Zabin has announced his resignation from the NCP. He made this announcement in a post on his verified Facebook account today. The party’s senior joint member secretary, Tasneem Zara, resigned from the party last Saturday (December 27) and announced that she would contest as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-9 constituency in the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
