Request to media for reliable information about Khaleda Zia’s treatment

Top party leaders have said that the physical condition of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has further deteriorated in the last few days. Meanwhile, BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan said on Monday (December 1) afternoon, “From CCU to ICU, from ICU to ventilation, no matter what I say, Madam’s condition is very critical. There is nothing more to say. I only ask the nation for prayers for Madam.” Earlier, the Chairperson’s former Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel said in a short status on Facebook, “Madam is being kept in ICU on ventilation. I pray for Allah’s special mercy.”
After this post went viral, concerns increased among party leaders and activists. When asked about this, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan told reporters that all decisions related to the Chairperson’s health are taken by doctors. “We will inform you as soon as the doctors officially give any information. We specifically request the media not to publish information from any source other than this.” Shairul further said that the media has been requested to provide reliable information about Khaleda Zia’s treatment. “We request you not to use any statement other than the statement of her personal doctor and standing committee member Professor Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain.” At the same time, he called on the public to refrain from spreading rumors or misleading information.
