Renu murder case verdict today
Six years ago, Taslima Begum Renu was lynched to death over rumors of child abduction while inquiring about the admission of her child to school in Badda, Dhaka. The court will announce the verdict of the murder case filed in this incident today.
Dhaka’s Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Morshed Alam’s court will announce the verdict today Monday.
It is to be noted that on July 20, 2019, Taslima Begum Renu was beaten to death on the suspicion of child abduction while inquiring about the admission of children in a school in Badda of the capital. Renu’s nephew Syed Nasir Uddin Titu filed a murder case against 500 unknown people in this incident.
On September 10, 2020, the investigating officer of the case, Inspector Abdul Haque of DB Police filed a charge sheet against 13 persons and a charge sheet against two minors. On April 1, 2021, the court framed charges against 13 accused.
The accused are Ibrahim alias Hriday Mollah, Riya Begum Maina, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamal Hossain, Shaheen, Bachchu Mia, Bappi alias Shahidul Islam, Murad Mia, Sohail Rana, Asadul Islam, Bellal Mollah, Raju alias Rumman Hossain and Mohiuddin.
In the case, the court has accepted the testimony of 19 of the 26 witnesses in the charge sheet. After hearing the defense of the defendants, presentation of case arguments, the date of judgment was fixed.
Meanwhile, the case of the two children is under trial in Dhaka’s Women and Children Tribunal-7.
