Refrigerator explosion in Narayanganj, 9 members of a family burned
9 members of the same family were burnt in a fridge compressor explosion due to an electrical short circuit in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. The injured have been rescued and admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. The incident took place on Saturday (August 22) morning in the factory area of Hirajheel Muri in Siddhirganj. The burnt victims are Tanjil Islam (40), his wife Asma Begum (35), their children Tisha (17) and Arafat (15), Hasan (35), his wife Salma Begum (32), their children Muntaha (11), Jannat (4) and Imam Uddin (1 month). Asma and Salma are two sisters. Their mother Tahera Khatun (60) was also burnt. Locals said that two sisters Asma and Salma used to live in a rented room with their husbands and children. At around 3:30 am, the refrigerator compressor exploded due to an electrical short circuit. Hearing screams, neighbors went to rescue the injured.
