Red moon seen after many years
Bangladeshis, along with millions of people around the world, enjoyed a cosmic spectacle. On one side, the shadow of a full moon fell on the round moon of Purnima. Immediately after the full moon eclipse, the entire moon turned red. Many children, teenagers, boys and the elderly stayed on the rooftops until late at night to enjoy this cosmic spectacle called ‘Blood Moon’. Yesterday, Sunday (September 7), at around 9:30 pm, a different form of the moon was seen in the sky of Bengal. A different scene was seen in the sky of the country, including the capital Dhaka. Hundreds of stories, poems and similes. For some, it is the beloved of others or the uncle of the moon – all of these came together as an opportunity to observe together. Like the metaphor of spring, the form of the moon also has its diversity and characteristics. It is difficult to find a person who is not captivated by the full moon. People love to be fascinated by the moon, to gaze at the sky with amazed eyes. Basically, Sunday night was special for moon lovers. Full moon lunar eclipse; with blood moon or red moon. Many were waiting to see multiple cosmic events at once. They came to the rooftop with telescopes and binoculars. Shortly after 11 pm on Sunday, it was felt that one side of the moon was going dark. A total lunar eclipse occurs. The moon begins to disappear in the eclipse. Within an hour, the entire moon is covered in the Earth’s shadow. As the entire moon disappears, a reddish glow slowly begins to bloom on the covered body. In fact, there is not much light from the red moon. Still, the moon continued to be seen until late at night. According to the Meteorological Department, the lunar eclipse began at 9:27 pm Bangladesh time yesterday, Sunday. The total lunar eclipse began at 11:30 pm. The central eclipse began at 12:11 pm. The moonrise from the total lunar eclipse began at 12:53 pm. The moon completely came out of the eclipse and returned to its normal shape at 2:56 am. The total lunar eclipse lasted 82 minutes. This is the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022. Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release that the lunar eclipse will be visible in total from Hila Island in Indonesia in the east to Mombasa Port in Kenya in the west. Partial eclipse will also be visible in some parts of these two directions. However, it will not be visible from North America, the Caribbean region and 90 percent of South America.
