RAB picnic bus overturns, child dies, at least 22 injured

A two-year-old child was killed in a head-on collision between a picnic vehicle carrying RAB members and a passenger bus in Patuakhali. At least 22 people were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred on the Patuakhali-Kuakata highway in the Fatulla area of ​​Auliapur union in Sadar upazila at around 8:30 am today (October 11).
According to eyewitness sources, the RAB-8 microbus was heading towards Kuakata from Barisal. At the same time, a Dhansiri Classic Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction was returning to Barisal. When it reached Fatulla area, a head-on collision occurred. The child died on the spot and 22 people in the RAB vehicle were injured.
Eyewitnesses also said that there were about 30 members in the RAB vehicle at the time of the accident. After the collision, locals quickly launched a rescue operation and the injured were sent to the hospital with the help of the fire service.
Patuakhali Fire Service Assistant Director Belal Uddin said, “We rescued 13 people from the accident site and sent them to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital. It has been confirmed that a two-year-old child died there. The condition of some of the injured is critical. The names and identities of the deceased and injured were not immediately known.”
