Protest in New York: ‘The situation in Gaza is intolerable’
Protesters participating in a massive demonstration in New York City have united against the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Along with the call of thousands of protesters, ‘What is happening in Gaza is absolutely intolerable’. Miriam Osman, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement in New York, said that the protesters have a clear demand — ‘Stop the hunger in Gaza’. She added, ‘This is a mass march for humanity. Everyone should be here today. Because — what we are seeing in Gaza is absolutely intolerable.’ Osman added, ‘Urgent assistance for the people of Gaza is needed now. And that can be implemented today if the US government stops financial and arms aid to Israel.’ Joey Alexandra, a journalist and editor at the People’s Dispatch, said that she participated in the demonstration in solidarity with her colleagues in Gaza. Joey Alexandra said, “Journalists in Gaza were only working to tell the story of the genocide of their own people. And that is why Israel is targeting them, threatening them, making false accusations, and ultimately killing them in front of their families. We, journalists and media workers, have come together to send this message – Israel must stop killing journalists and all innocent people.”
