Protest in Bogra demanding resignation of education advisor, DC faces gunfire

Students have protested in Bogra demanding a fair investigation into the plane crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka and the resignation of the education advisor. On Tuesday (July 22), students started a protest march from Satmatha in the city around 1 pm. The march reached the main gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s office via Jaleswaritala intersection in the city. The students started a protest around the main gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s office there. At that time, the students started shouting various slogans demanding the resignation of the education advisor and warning the interim government. At one stage, the students became angry when the Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza started making various excuses to meet the students. Later, he came down and spoke to the students on the students’ ultimatum. At that time, the Deputy Commissioner came under gunfire from the students. The students kept shouting false slogans targeting the Deputy Commissioner. Later, when the students informed the Deputy Commissioner about their demands, he assured them that he would inform the interim government immediately. After that, the students ended their protest there and came to Satmatha to perform a funeral in absentia. Shakib Khan, member secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that the interim government should immediately resign from the education advisor and give an accurate account of the number of people killed in the accident. He also said that the government should take responsibility for every family injured and killed in the accident.
