Protest at SUSTdemanding punishment for those involved in rape incidents across the country

Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have taken out a protest march demanding the arrest and hanging of those involved in rape incidents across the country. The protest march was taken out from the university’s student residence hall at around 2:30 am on Sunday. The march circled various important roads of the campus and ended at the roundabout.

At that time, the students raised slogans such as ‘I want hanging, I want hanging of rapists’, ‘We want justice, we want justice’, ‘In my golden Bengal, there is no place for rapists’, ‘Who are you, who are you, Achiya Achiya’, ‘The death penalty for rapists must be implemented’, ‘The black hands of rapists, break them and crush them’ etc. More than 300 students participated in the protest.

The students alleged that the Home Affairs Advisor is unable to maintain peace and order in the country and has failed to provide security to women. He has also failed to ensure any punishment for rapists. We demand immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the rape incidents that have taken place across the country, including in Asia, otherwise a strict movement will be launched. They also demanded the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor if he fails to fulfill his duties.
