Producer Anjan to rest in peace at his mother’s grave
National Film Award-winning filmmaker Zahidur Rahim Anjan has died while undergoing treatment in Bengaluru, India. He breathed his last on Monday night. He was 61 years old at the time of his death.
Former president of Bangladesh Short Film Forum, film activist, filmmaker and teacher Zahidur Rahim Anjan’s body will be kept in front of the Shahbagh National Museum on Thursday afternoon to pay tribute to him. This was announced by the Bangladesh Short Film Forum in a press release.
The release said that filmmaker Anjan’s body will be kept in front of the National Museum on Thursday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm to pay tribute. After that, he will be buried in his mother’s grave at Azimpur graveyard. Anjan’s body was brought to Dhaka on a Bangladesh Biman flight yesterday, Wednesday.
It was taken to Stamford University at 9:30 am today. After the tribute, the second funeral was held there. The body will then be taken to Dhaka University Mosque, where it will be kept in front of the Shahbagh National Museum for tributes after the third funeral prayer after Zuhr.
It is worth mentioning that Zahidur Rahim Anjan’s first film ‘Meghamallar’ was released in 2014. The film won national awards in three categories. The full-length film ‘Meghamallar’, based on the story ‘Raincoat’ by fiction writer Akhtaruzzaman Ilyas, was his first feature film. It won him the National Film Awards for ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Dialogue Writer’.
He last produced ‘Chander Amavasya’ with government funding. The poster of the film has already been released. Although it was planned to be released last year, he could not release it due to the overall situation in the country and his own illness. He was keen to bring the film to the audience very soon.
