Priyanka Gandhi has submitted her nomination papers as a Congress candidate for the by-elections to the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, India.
Priyanka filed her nomination papers on Wednesday accompanied by mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. News from NDTV.
Rahul won from two seats in the last Lok Sabha elections. One is Raeberili, the other is Wayanad. Rahul vacated the Waynad seat leaving Rae Bareli. By-election will be held on November 13 in Waynad seat.
If Priyanka wins the Wayanad constituency, all three members of the Gandhi family will become members of the Indian Parliament together. In that case, like Rahul, Priyanka will also be a member of the Lok Sabha. And Sonia is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha.
On Tuesday, Priyanka went to Mysore in Karnataka with her mother and brother. From there they reached Wayanad after traveling 140 km by road. He submitted his nomination papers by doing a ‘road show’ on Wednesday. This is going to be Priyanka’s first election contest.
Rahul gave a statement on social media X last Tuesday, putting full faith in Priyanka. In this he said, ‘People of Wayanad have a special place in my heart. No one can represent them better than Priyanka. I believe that he can meet all the needs of Waynad with sincerity. He can strongly highlight the needs and wants of the people there. As we have represented Wayanad with love, we will simultaneously fulfill the responsibility of representing the people of Wayanad.
Priyanka held a meeting with Kharge and other state leaders on the Wayanad by-election on Monday. It is not yet certain who will be his rival. All by-elections in the country including Wayanad and Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly election results will be declared on November 23.
