Policeman who greeted BNP leader Rizvi by touching his feet has been withdrawn

Sergeant Md. Ariful Islam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has been withdrawn for touching the feet of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while greeting him. He was working in the Mirpur zone of the Traffic Division. He was withdrawn in an office order signed by DMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic-Mirpur) Gautam Kumar Biswas on Friday (November 7).
The order said, “Sergeant Md. Ariful Islam, working in the Mirpur Traffic Zone of the Mirpur Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has been attached (closed) from that division to the DMP, Dhaka (Headquarters and Administration) Division after informing the higher authorities for administrative reasons.” The order also mentioned that the order will come into effect immediately.
When asked, Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic-Mirpur) of DMP’s Traffic Mirpur Division Gautam Kumar Biswas said that Sergeant Ariful has been withdrawn and sent to the DC (Administration) office of DMP headquarters. Earlier in the afternoon, when BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was getting into his car after an event, a policeman held his leg and saluted. Later, a video of the incident went viral on social media.
