Police ran after seeing him, body found in a beel after a while
A man named Saiful Islam ran away after seeing him in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. Later, the police recovered his body from the beel. The body was sent to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy at 9:30 am today, Tuesday (December 30). Earlier, a team from Chakaria Police Station reached the spot around 3 am, recovered Saiful’s body and prepared an autopsy report.
The deceased Saiful is the son of the deceased Nurul Islam of Ward No. 4 of Boro Fulgachtala area of Kakra Union in the upazila. The family alleged that the police went to the house to catch Saiful at around 1:45 am. At that time, he fled from the house to a nearby beel. The opposing people strangled him and beat him to death.
Locals said that there was a quarrel between local Nurul Islam and Faridul Alam over land near the house last Saturday. When the investigation started after the incident, Saiful Islam described the incident to the police as an eyewitness. Nurul Islam was angry. When a case was filed that night over the fight, Nurul Islam’s wife, Jasmine Akhter, also accused Saiful Islam.
Saiful Islam’s wife, Rina Akhter, said that the police came to the house to arrest Saiful at around 1:15 am on Monday. Sensing the presence of the police, Saiful fled. Although he was able to escape when he saw the police, he was caught by his opponents. At that time, they strangled him, beat him to death and threw his body in a nearby pond. When the police left, everyone saw his body lying in the pond as Saiful did not return home.
In this regard, Chakaria Police Station OC Mohammad Monir Hossain said that Saiful is an accused in a case filed by Chakaria Police Station. The police went to arrest him at around 12:30 am, but did not find him at home. Regarding the complaint of Saiful’s family, he said that after investigating the matter, the body has been recovered and sent for autopsy to find out the cause of death. We hope that the autopsy report will reveal the cause of death.
