Police officer arrested who gagged student

The police officer who covered the face of Nahidul Islam, a student of the Political Science Department of Dhaka’s New Model Degree College, during the ‘March for Justice’ program of the anti-discrimination student movement, has been arrested.

At that time, he was working as a police inspector (operations) of the Shahbagh police station of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). However, he was later suspended.

In an order, the DMP said that Inspector Arshad Hossain covered the face of Nahidul Islam, a student of the Political Science Department of Dhaka’s New Model Degree College, during the ‘March for Justice’ program of the anti-discrimination student movement. As a result of his unprofessional actions, the public’s perception of the police’s activities has been created and the image of the police has been tarnished. In view of which, he was temporarily suspended.

In addition to covering the face of the protesting student, the DMP also said that there are many other allegations against Arshad Hossain.
