Police ‘kidnap’ Awami League protesters by breaking cocktails
Police have said that some protesters arrested from the banned Awami League protest in Shyamoli have been ‘kidnapped’. At around 11 am today (September 16), when Awami League leaders and activists started protesting from Shyamoli’s Shishu Mela intersection and started moving towards Agargaon, the police detained 5-6 people from there. Then, another group of Awami League came from behind on 25 to 30 motorcycles, broke some cocktails and dragged the protesters away from the police. Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station OC Md. Imaul Haque said that the police could not arrest the protesters due to the Awami League’s ‘backup team’. He said, Awami League members were preparing to protest while several of our policemen were at Shyamoli’s Shishu Mela intersection. 5/6 people have been arrested. Along with this, some people came as a backup team with 25-30 bikes. They immediately took them away by breaking a few cocktails. At that time, the OC informed about the arrest of 6 people including a motorcycle from the ‘backup team’.
