Plover eggs found on Australian field, games closed for a month

Australian authorities have closed a sports field for a month. The decision was made because a protected species of bird lays eggs right in the middle of the field. While playing football at the Jerabambara Regional Sports Complex, 20 minutes from Canberra, players noticed that a plover had laid an egg in the middle of the field. As a result, their match was moved to a nearby field. Plovers are usually very conservative and are known to become fiercely aggressive after laying eggs. During this time, they flap their wings, make loud noises and jump to try to keep intruders away from their nest. The local council said that a plover had laid an egg on the artificial football pitch at the regional sports complex. Because of this, club matches were moved to a nearby field on the advice of local wildlife organization Wildcare. The council expressed gratitude to the local football teams for making such a decision.
