Plans to purchase 40,000 body cameras for police ahead of elections
Ahead of the 13th National Parliament election, the government has planned to purchase 40,000 body cameras for the police. The plan was discussed at a meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday (August 10) under the chairmanship of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The Chief Advisor’s Press Wing gave this information in a release. Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, said that the process of purchasing 40,000 body cameras is in the final stage. These devices will monitor the security of thousands of risky polling stations. In the meantime, contact has been made with three companies from Germany, China and Thailand regarding the supply of cameras. He also said that police officers and constables will carry these cameras while performing election duties. Moreover, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab also announced plans to launch an ‘election app’ for the upcoming elections.
