Plane crashes in South Korea, 28 dead.

A plane carrying 181 people has crashed in South Korea, killing at least 28 people, Reuters reported.

The plane skidded off the runway while landing at Muan International Airport in the southwest of the country, the report said.

The plane, a Jeju Airlines flight, was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members. It was returning from the Thai capital Bangkok.

One official at the airport said that workers had managed to save people from the tail of the plane after it crashed on the runway.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the passengers included 173 South Koreans and two Thais.

Several images, which were shared by the local media, showed thick clouds of black smoke billowing from the crashed plane.

It was flying back from Thailand when the attempt to land in the country’s southwestern airport hit a bird; consequently, landing gear went wrong, reported Yonhap.

However, what caused the crash is not clear yet.
