Pirojpur-1 and 2 constituencies: Sayedee’s two sons face heavyweights

The district residents are actively analyzing the Pirojpur-1 and Pirojpur-2 constituencies in the 13th National Parliament election. The two sons of late MP Delwar Hossain Sayedee, two new candidates nominated by Jamaat-e-Islami, Masud Sayedee and Shamim Sayedee, have contested the election in these two constituencies. They have already received a lot of response due to their father’s identity. However, their fight with many heavyweight candidates in the two constituencies will be tough. This is what the voters of the area think. Masud Sayedee is the Jamaat candidate in Pirojpur-1 (Sadar-Nazirpur-Indurkani) constituency. No final nomination has been given to anyone from BNP or its alliance except Jamaat in this constituency. In Pirojpur-1 constituency, Sayedee’s son Masud Sayedee will have to compete fiercely with 12 party chiefs and Jatiya Party (Jafar) chairman, former minister and heavyweight candidate Mustafa Jamal Haider. In addition, BNP central leader, former convener and teacher leader Principal Alamgir Hossain, central leader Eliza Zaman and current committee convener Nazrul Islam Khan are in the list of nomination hopefuls. Meanwhile, NCP district coordinator and newcomer candidate Al Mamun Khan, who has already established himself in various social activities, is also conducting mass communication.
On the other hand, although NCP, CPB and Gana Odhikar Parishad have fielded candidates in all three constituencies of the district, except for Jamaat, there is no visible program in mass communication or campaigning. BNP, Jamaat and NCP candidates are roaming the field in Pirojpur-2 and Pirojpur-3 constituencies.
Jamaat’s candidate for Pirojpur-2 (Bhandaria-Kawkhali-Nesarabad) constituency is Shamim Sayeedi. Jamaat has been fielding a single candidate in this constituency for a long time and Sayeedi’s son Shamim Sayeedi is getting an advantage in the field. Although BNP has also announced a single candidate, various groups within the party are holding meetings and torch processions to change the candidate for Pirojpur-2 constituency. As a result, BNP nominee Ahmed Suman is being targeted by the anti-Manju group. Jatiya Party-JP (Manju) chairman, heavyweight candidate, former minister Anwar Hossain Manju and NCP candidate Shams Istiak Rahman are also in the field for Pirojpur-2 constituency.
On the other hand, in Pirojpur-3 (Mathbaria) constituency, NCP, BNP and Jamaat candidates are spending their time busy in campaigning, meetings, rallies and mass contact. Here, even though huge rallies and showdowns are regularly held in favor of BNP’s influential candidate Ruhul Amin Dulal, the young NCP candidate, university teacher Dr. Shamim Hamidi, is not sitting quietly. Jhanu candidate Dr. Rustum Ali Faraji has not left the field. He has repeatedly changed the party jersey to his convenience and became an MP from this seat. Finally, finding no alternative, he joined the MP list under the ‘Hatpakha’ symbol of the Islamic Movement. Jamaat’s candidate in this seat is Sharif Abdul Jalil. However, to keep the electoral field always busy, the eyes of voters and supporters are now on Pirojpur-1 and 2 seats. Sayedee’s two sons are the new candidates of the party and their identity as the sons of late MP Delwar Hossain Sayedee is fast spreading among the voters and supporters. The voters and supporters of the party believe that since Jamaat announced its single candidate for the three parliamentary seats in the district, it has not had to struggle much to present its identity to the rival parties everywhere.
