Passenger plane crashes in Kazakhstan, many feared dead.
An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane has crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. It is feared that many people may be killed.
Russian news agencies reported this information on Wednesday quoting the Ministry of Emergency Services of Kazakhstan.
Initial reports suggest survivors have been found and twelve of them have been rescued.
Arab News sources indicated that rescue teams are trying to put out the fire at the scene of the crash.
Russian news agencies quoted that the plane was an Azerbaijan Airlines flight originating from Baku en-route to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia, but due to fog in Grozny the plane changed course.
Azerbaijan Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Kazakh media reported that 72 people were on board the plane. Of them, 67 were passengers and five crew members. However, Reuters has not yet confirmed this information.
