Parliament session begins at 11 am
The session of the 13th National Parliament is starting again from 11 am today (March 15). The journey of this new Parliament began last Thursday. After the President’s address that day, Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed announced the adjournment of Parliament till Sunday.
Today, the agenda received from the National Parliament Secretariat includes – Question and Answer (Cabinet Division, Ministry of Science and Technology, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasa Education Division, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Housing and Public Works). Disposition of notices received under the heading of drawing attention to matters of urgent public importance (Rule-71). Motion of thanks on the President’s address and discussion on the motion of thanks brought on the President’s address.
Meanwhile, in the first meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Work of the National Parliament, it has been decided that the first session of the 13th National Parliament will continue until April 30. The session will be held every day at 3 pm except on public holidays.
The meeting held in the Cabinet Room of the Parliament House on Saturday under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Committee and Speaker of the National Assembly Hafiz Uddin Ahmed discussed the time allocation for the first session of the 13th National Assembly and the duration of the session. It was decided to discuss the President’s address for a total of 50 hours.
A total of 468 questions were received in this session, of which eight were for the Prime Minister and 460 for other ministers. 27 notices were received under Rule-71 to attract attention and 97 notices were received under Decision-Proposal Number (Rule-131).
Earlier, at the beginning of the first session, the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. When the Prime Minister and Leader of the Parliament Tarique Rahman proposed the name of Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed as the Speaker, it was supported by a voice vote.
Similarly, Barrister Kaiser Kamal’s name was announced as the Deputy Speaker. After the election, President Md. Shahabuddin administered the oath to the newly elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
