Parents lose baby in Tongi explosion, burn themselves

A four-month-old baby has died in a gas line explosion in Tongi. The child’s father and mother were burnt in the incident. The accident occurred in a house in the Mirer Bazar area of Tongi early on Sunday (August 3). The deceased child’s name is Raihan. The injured are Mohammad Ripon (25) and his wife Mosammat Hafiza Akhter (20). It is learned that a gas line leakage suddenly exploded while cooking on Sunday morning. Three people were burnt in this. Later, they were taken to the National Burn Institute, where doctors declared Raihan dead. Confirming the matter, the hospital’s resident physician Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman said that three people from the same family were brought to the hospital from the Mirer Bazar area of Tongi with burns. Then the four-month-old baby Raihan was declared dead. In addition, Ripon’s 80 percent body and his wife Hafiza’s 70 percent body were burnt. The condition of both of them is critical.
