Orders to send snakebite antivenom to all hospitals in the country

The Directorate of Drug Administration has directed civil surgeons to send antivenom given for snakebite to all upazila hospitals in the country. The High Court issued this order today, Saturday (November 8).
Earlier, on August 18, the High Court had ordered the supply of snakebite antivenom to all upazila-level government hospitals in the country. The Health Secretary, the Director General of the Directorate of Drug Administration and other concerned persons were asked to implement this order. The High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Syed Zahed Mansur issued this order.
On August 17, a lawyer filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking directions to supply snakebite antivenom to all upazila-level government hospitals in the country. It is worth noting that, citing statistics published in the newspaper, it was said that according to the information of the Directorate of Health, 38 people died due to snakebite across the country from February to July 1 of this year. In these five months, 610 people have been bitten by snakes.
