Only democratic reform can relieve from suffering: Shamsul Alam
BNP leader pledges in West Bakolia courtyard meeting, local development, drainage reform and unemployment elimination as priorities. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Central Committee member Alhaj Md. Shamsul Alam said, “BNP is determined to alleviate the problems and hardships of the people. The people of the country have heard many stories of development, this time they want real development.”
He said this in his speech as the chief guest at a courtyard meeting organized at West Bakolia of Chittagong Metropolitan City on Wednesday (October 8) afternoon.
Shamsul Alam said, “For the past 17 years, people have heard big stories of development, but in reality, walking on the streets of this Baklia is a burden, there is no drainage system, and there is no fair opportunity. There is no alternative to democratic change to alleviate this suffering of the people.”
He further said that if BNP forms the government, it will prioritize local development, road and drainage system renovation, waterlogging, unemployment and drug problems.
The meeting also discussed in detail the 31-point national reconstruction program announced by BNP acting chairman Tarek Rahman.
Local BNP leaders and activists, businessmen, laborers and people of different professions were present at the courtyard meeting. They highlighted various problems of the area and demanded quick solutions.
Sheikh Alauddin presided over the program. Also present was former Ward No. 17 BNP former president Md. Sekandar, Faridul Haque Liton, BNP Convener Haji Emran Uddin, Senior Joint Convener Abdul Quader, Member Secretary Mohiuddin Mizan, Raja Mia, Shahid Kazemi, SM Faruk, Abdur Sabur, Mahmudur Rahman Pakhi, Baklia Thana Jubo Dal Organizer Mohammad Raihan, Volunteer Dal Convener Md. Bablu, Member Secretary Md. Faruk, Zahed, Johnny, Saiful and other leaders and activists.
The meeting ended with lively discussions, exchange of views and a participatory atmosphere.
