3430 metric tons of onions came through Sonamsjid port
After Durga Puja holiday, 3 thousand 430 metric tons of onions were imported from India through Sonamsjid land port of Chapainawabganj.
This onion was imported into Bangladesh starting from yesterday Tuesday till 3 pm today Wednesday.
The manager of Panama Port Link Limited of Sonamsjid land port. Mainul Islam said that after the 6-day holiday of Durga Puja, 3 thousand 430 metric tons of Indian onions arrived at the port in 127 trucks yesterday Tuesday and today Wednesday till 3 pm.
He also said that even today, several trucks of Indian onion are on the way of entry. At present, with the increase in imports, the onion market has declined. The price of onion will decrease further in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the price of onion has decreased by Tk 10-12 in the local market due to the increase in imports. Earlier, onion was sold at the rate of 100 taka per kg, from today it is being sold at 90 taka.
