One dies after his lungi gets stuck in the engine of a boat in Netrokona
A man died after his lungi got stuck in the engine of a motorized boat in Khaliajuri, Netrokona. The incident took place at Khaliajuri Rasulpur Ghat in the district on Wednesday (December 10) morning. The deceased has been identified as Md. Hanif Mia (36), son of Abdur Sobhan of Pathanpara village in Taherpur upazila of neighboring Sunamganj district.
Police and locals said that Hanif rented a motorized boat from Itna area of Kishoreganj for six months. After loading the boat with bamboo, he anchored the boat on the south side of Rasulpur village in Khaliajuri district on the way to Taherpur. Later, while getting out of the boat, another person in the boat started the engine this morning and Hanif’s lungi got stuck. He later died on the spot.
Jagatjyoti Chowdhury, in-charge of Lepsia Boat Police Outpost in Khaliajuri, said that the fire service has been informed to recover the body of the deceased. Legal action will be taken later in consultation with senior officials.
