One and a half year old child dies after banana gets stuck in throat

A one and a half year old child named Motalib died after a banana got stuck in his throat in Bauphal, Patuakhali. The incident took place at around 11 am today, Sunday (September 21) in Bara Dalima village of Nazirpur union.
The deceased child Motalib is the son of Sohel Payadar of the same village. Motalib was the only brother of three sisters. The news of his death has cast a shadow of grief over the area.
According to local sources, Motalib’s sister gave him a banana to eat around 11 am today. At one point during the meal, a large banana got stuck in his throat. When the condition deteriorated, the child’s mother and sisters started screaming. Hearing their screams, neighbors rushed to the spot and quickly took the child to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex.
When they reached the hospital around 12:30 pm, emergency department doctor Dr. Golam Mostahid declared the child dead. He said that several pieces of banana were removed from the child’s throat.
