Oil line catches fire in Srimangal, 2 burnt

Two people were burnt after a fire broke out due to leakage in an oil line of Petro Bangla Company in Srimangal Upazila of Moulvibazar. Four units of the fire service finally brought the fire under control after an hour of effort.
The accident took place on Tuesday (September 23) night in the Shasan Kadam Tala area of ​​Bhunbir Union No. 2 of the upazila. The two burnt persons are Bashir Mia (50) and his son Redoan (24) of Bhunbir area. They are father and son.
According to eyewitnesses and fire service sources, the gas and oil pipeline of the National Grid from Haripur in Sylhet to Rashidpur via Sylhet passed underground in the area under the control of the state-owned company Petro Bangla Company.
Meanwhile, at around 3 pm on Tuesday, locals saw oil leakage from the oil line in the area. Later, when the guard on duty was informed, they came and broke the locks of two points to stop the flow of oil. But a large amount of oil spread everywhere. In the evening, the oil line suddenly caught fire.
It is being said that 4 units of the fire service from Srimangal and Moulvibazar tried to control the fire from 9:30 pm after receiving the news and by 10:20 pm, they were able to control the fire.
Meanwhile, oil spilled from the oil line leakage and fell into a nearby river. Then dead fish floated. While fishing there, the father and son suddenly caught fire and were burned. First, they were given first aid at the Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were referred to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Dr. Moumita, the duty doctor of the Upazila Health Complex, said that when Bashir Mia and his son Redowan arrived in a burnt condition, they were quickly referred to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
An expert team will jointly investigate to see how much money was lost, how the oil pipeline leaked and how the fire started. Currently, police and guards are present in the entire area to control the law and order situation.
