Not only Hasina, but also Awami League should be tried for genocide: Fakhrul

Not only Sheikh Hasina, but the Awami League as a party should be tried for genocide in the July Movement, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented. He said this to reporters while visiting Dr. Abdul Quddus, a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, who is undergoing treatment at the capital’s Agargaon Neuroscience Hospital on Wednesday (July 9). Fakhrul said, our party BNP is the biggest victim of Awami League’s oppression, torture, murder, and disappearances. Alleging indifference in the trial of the genocide, he said, ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina fled to India 11 months ago due to public anger, taking responsibility for the killing of thousands of people in the country. It is regrettable that Sheikh Hasina and her party have not been tried even after such a long time. The BNP Secretary General said, elections and reforms are never contradictory. The people of the country want elections. Those who are talking about postponing the elections should think about it more. To save the country and fulfill the aspirations of the people, the government must hold national elections at the right time. At this time, Mirza Fakhrul also called for unity among all political parties running the country.
