Noor may be discharged within a week: DMCH director

Noorul Haque Noor, president of the People’s Rights Council, who is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), may be discharged within a week, said DMCH Hospital Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman. Briefing reporters on Sunday (August 31) about Noor’s latest physical condition, he told them that Noor is gradually improving. He has 4 problems – broken nose and jaw bones. There is also an eye injury. There was also a hemorrhage in the brain. Stating that the CT scan report is coming back well, he added that Noor is slightly injured. All kinds of treatment are being done as per the decision of the formed board. He will be taken from the ICU to a regular bed very soon, said Brigadier J. Asaduzzaman. Stating that the broken bones will heal with time, he added that the hemorrhage in the brain is also improving. The director of DMCH Hospital expressed hope that he could be released within a week. It is worth noting that on Friday night, leaders and activists of the Gana Odhikar Parishad clashed with Jatiya Party (JAP) leaders and activists in Bijoynagar in the capital. Both sides dispersed after law enforcement officers lathi-charged. Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Noor and General Secretary Muhammad Rashed Khan were injured in the incident. Noor was seriously injured and was first taken to Islami Bank Hospital. Later, on the advice of doctors, he was transferred to the emergency department of DMCH Hospital around 11 pm.
