No fear about elections: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said, ‘There is no fear about elections. Insha Allah, elections will be held. Elections will be held with everyone. Law enforcement agencies are fully prepared. They are ready to face any situation until the elections are held, elections will be held at the right time and in the right manner.’ He said these things while attending a youth voter event in Gulshan, the capital, on Monday (December 15). The Chief Election Commissioner said, ‘The youth will vote themselves, encourage others to vote. Because the youth are a symbol of courage, a symbol of creation.’
He also said, ‘It is not possible to build the country without you, the next elections will be fair, beautiful and transparent. This time the elections will be held with the youth.’ The Chief Election Commissioner said, ‘The youth have shown this in 69, 70, 71, 90 and 24. The youth are a symbol of courage and creation. It is not possible to build the country without the creativity and knowledge-based ideas of the youth. The next elections will be a fair, beautiful and transparent election. This time the vote will be with the youth.’
He told reporters at the event, ‘This election will be a historic election. Why historic? We have brought expatriates under the ambit of voting through postal ballots, which has not happened in the last 54 years. Again, those who were involved in the election process will now be able to vote through postal ballots. Prisoners and government officials will also be able to vote this time. Along with this, a referendum will have to be organized. I hope that if the youth are with it, we will move forward further. The future of Bangladesh is bright.’
The CEC said that the shooting incident on Inquilab Manch spokesperson Hadi was isolated and one or two isolated incidents occurred during the election, ‘There has been no deterioration in the law and order situation. Earlier, Ahsanullah Master and former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria were also killed during elections in the country. One or two murders can spoil the election. These are not new incidents.
