Next election will be competitive: Tarique Rahman

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the next election will be the most difficult and competitive for the nation. He made this comment while addressing the chief guest of the BNP’s 31-point day-long divisional workshop organized by video conference at the Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Sunday afternoon.

Tarique Rahman said, “During the time of the fallen government, the people could not exercise their right to vote. After a long time, they will get the opportunity to exercise their right to vote again.”

He also said, “The dictatorship has been in power in various ways for the past 15 years, trying to build many things by looting people’s money and resources. People have hated them and turned them away. We have to remember this. As a political party worker, the biggest capital is the trust, faith and love of the people. Those who remained in power for 15 years are no more. The reason is that they have lost the trust, faith and love of the people. That is why they were forced to flee the country.

Stating that the nation must unite regardless of party affiliation to build the country, he said, “If everyone forms the government together, everyone will be able to speak for everyone’s rights. Democracy will be stronger. The trust that the people have in BNP must be maintained. Everyone must be vigilant in this regard. They cannot get involved in conflicts among themselves in any way. For this, leaders and activists of BNP at all levels must remain united and stand by the people like in the past. They must be aware and diligent so that the trust of the people is not hurt.”

The acting chairman of BNP further said, “The anti-dictatorship movement did not succeed with the BNP’s single movement. The movement was successful because people from different political parties and all classes came forward. If the country is to be rebuilt, the nation must be united regardless of party affiliation.”

Addressing the leaders and activists of his party, he said, “We want to rebuild the country in the light of the 31-point plan. The people of the country have trust in BNP. We have to maintain that trust. I cannot do it alone. The party leaders and activists must listen to the grassroots people. Everyone must maintain the trust of the people from their own positions. The party’s 31 points must be delivered to every home. These 31 points are not only those of BNP, but many democratic political parties have opinions on them. We have fought against dictatorship for 15 years. The source of all power is the people. So stay with the people, keep the people with you. It is not possible to come to power without the people in any way.’

BNP’s Rangpur Divisional Organizing Secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu presided over the workshop, and BNP Media Cell Head Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel provided training on the 31 points. BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Rangpur Divisional Co-Organizing Secretary Abdul Khalek, BNP Media Cell member Farzana Sharmin Putul and many others spoke at the workshop.
