Next 5-6 days are very important for the government: Press Secretary
The next few days are very important for the interim government, said Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief advisor. He made this comment at a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the secretariat’s media center on Thursday (July 31) afternoon. The press secretary said, “The next five-six days are a very crucial time for the government. We will understand where we are going in five-seven days.” However, stating that the election will be held on time, he said, “It will be held within the time that the chief advisor has said about the election. The chief advisor’s position is firm on this matter.” The press secretary also expressed hope that the next election will be festive, fair and impartial if the people participate. Shafiqul Alam said, “The big goal was to bring the country back from the terrible economic disaster after the coup to a stable state. This government has been able to do that.’ Claiming that the law and order situation in Bangladesh is now stable, he said, ‘Efforts are being made to reduce any kind of crime to zero in view of the elections.’ The press secretary further said, ‘The current government’s stance on extortion is zero tolerance. Action will be taken against anyone if evidence is found.’
