New student organization of students who led the coup to debut today
A new student organization led by students who led the July mass uprising with the slogan ‘Students First, Bangladesh First’ is going to be launched today, Wednesday. The organization will be run by embracing the ideals of the July Revolution and will not follow the lead of any political party or individual. Several leaders who may come to the top leadership of the new organization confirmed this information to the daily Amed Soomi.
It is learned that Zahid Ahsan, the office cell editor of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, may be appointed as the member secretary of the central committee. And Mohir Alam, a student of the Department of Mathematics, may be appointed as the member secretary of Dhaka University.
It is learned that like the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, this organization will also have four top posts – convener, member secretary, spokesperson and chief organizer. Coordinator Abu Baker Majumder may be appointed as the central convener of the organization and Coordinator Abdul Quader may be appointed as the convener of Dhaka University. Zahid Ahsan, the office cell editor of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, may be appointed as the member secretary of the central committee. And Mohir Alam, a student of the University’s Mathematics Department, can come as the member secretary of Dhaka University.
In addition, Ashrefa Khatun, a student of the International Relations Department of Dhaka University, can be the spokesperson of the central committee, and Rafia Rehnuma Hridi, a student of the 2019-20 session, can be the spokesperson of DU. DU student Tahmid Al Modasshir can be the main organizer of the central committee, and Hasib Al Islam, a student of the Department of Sociology, can be the main organizer of DU. Rifat Rashid can be the senior joint member secretary and Alamin Sarkar can be the joint member of the DU committee.
Regarding the goals and structure of the organization, Abdul Quader said that this student organization will not be a tail organization. It will not have any relationship with any mother organization. Decisions will be made democratically in the ‘bottom to top’ method in the election of leadership. The financial activities of the organization will be conducted through internal subscriptions. Regarding the age limit, he said that the maximum age of the members of the central committee should be 28 years. And in the case of university units, members can be members for a maximum of seven years from the time of admission to honors. That is, it will be a student-only organization. The main foundation of the organization will be the spirit of the July mass uprising. The academic field will be worked with this spirit.
Earlier, on the 17th of this month, Abu Baker Majumder, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, held a press conference at the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University and announced the establishment of a new student organization.
