New Pay Commission formed for government employees

The government has formed a new pay commission for government officials and employees. Former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan has been made the head of the pay commission. The decision to form the commission was taken at a meeting of the advisory council of the interim government on Thursday (July 24). The meeting was presided over by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. The information was given by the press wing of the chief advisor. Currently, government officials and employees receive salaries and allowances according to the 2015 pay scale. Earlier, on June 22, Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed and Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder jointly announced at a press conference that the minimum special benefit for government employees has been increased to Tk 1,500 and Tk 750 for pensioners from next July. The interim government has decided to increase this special allowance in the budget for the next fiscal year 2025-26.
