Neighbor arrested for biting off housewife’s finger

A neighbor has been accused of biting off the little finger of a woman’s left hand in Jessore’s Chougachha after she refused to accept his advances. The victim woman filed a complaint with the police station and the accused neighbor, Tahazzad Hossain (45), was arrested. The incident took place in Andulia Madrasa Para on Sunday (August 31) afternoon. The arrested Tahazzad Hossain is the son of Amin Uddin of Andulia village in Sukhpukuria union of the upazila. Police and locals said that the victim housewife (25) runs a grocery shop next to an NGO office in the village. Her husband, a mason by profession, went to work in various places. Tahazzad often made inappropriate advances to the housewife on the pretext of coming to the woman’s grocery shop. On Sunday afternoon, the housewife’s husband was out of the house working as a mason. Then, seizing the opportunity, the accused Tahajjud started making bad proposals to the housewife again. When she did not agree, he tried to rape her by force. When the housewife resisted, Tahajjud kept on pushing and at one point bit the little finger of the woman’s left hand and severed it from her hand. At that time, the neighbors rescued her after hearing the housewife’s screams and admitted her to the Upazila Health Complex. Chaugachha Police Station OC Anwar Hossain said that the victim woman came to the police station and filed a complaint. Later, a case was registered and the accused neighbor was arrested. He also said that the arrested Tahajjud will be sent to the Jessore court tomorrow.
