NCP will not accept any symbol imposed without the Shapla: Hasnat

NCP’s chief organizer for the southern region, Hasnat Abdullah, said that NCP will not accept any symbol imposed without the Shapla. The party has expressed doubts about whether the commission will be able to conduct a fair and impartial election after seeing the behavior and activities of the EC.
Hasnat said this in a briefing after a meeting with EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on the last day of the symbol selection today, Sunday (October 19).
He also said that we have no other option but the Shapla. They could not give any legal explanation for not giving the Shapla. There is no option but the Shapla.
Hasnat Abdullah said that the activities of the Election Commission seem to have turned into an institutional dictatorship. There is no explanation as to how the symbol of a political party was included in the rules, why the Shapla was not included. The work of the Election Commission is like the work of medieval kings and emperors. The decision that the Election Commission is taking is being imposed on them in Agargaon, the Election Commission does not have remote control. Hasnat commented that if any arbitrary decision is taken, it will lead to the same outcome as former CEC Nurul Huda.
Looking at the activities of the Election Commission to be held in February, I firmly believe that this Election Commission does not have the power to organize transparent, impartial and participatory elections. This Commission is spineless. There is a link between different political parties here. The Election Commission is fulfilling the purpose of the organization or party that it has appointed. Hasnat further commented that no alternative symbol will be taken except the Shapla.
Meanwhile, today is the last day to select a symbol for the NCP from the Election Commission list. The EC has said that if this opportunity is not used, the Commission will give the symbol to the NCP as per its decision. Earlier, the EC had written to the NCP to select its own symbol from the 50 symbols in the election rules. However, the party gave 7 samples of Shapla and said that the party will not register any symbol other than one of them.
