NBR raids Harun’s President Resort.
The Central Intelligence Cell of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has conducted a raid on President Resort and Agro Limited, owned by Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, former Additional Commissioner of the Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The team from Dhaka conducted a raid on the resort located in Ghagra Hossainpur area of Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj on Monday afternoon.
Senior officials of the agency and members of the law enforcement agencies participated in the raid led by NBR Director Chand Sultana Chowdhurani. However, details about the raid were not initially known.
Earlier, the Central Intelligence Cell of the National Board of Revenue (CIC) had sent a letter to seize bank accounts in the names of former Additional Commissioner of DB Harun Or Rashid and his family on various charges including tax evasion and illegal wealth acquisition.
It is learnt that a letter was sent from the CIC to all banks and financial institutions in the country on October 21. In it, instructions were given to seize the bank accounts of Harun and his family members. In addition to Harun, bank accounts held in the joint names of his parents, wife, children, and sister or in the names of business entities were also ordered to be seized.
