National mourning observed today on Hadi’s death

National mourning is being observed today (December 20) after the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. Today (December 20), all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions and educational institutions in Bangladesh, including all government and private buildings and Bangladesh missions abroad, will be at half-mast. Osman Hadi’s funeral will be held at 2 pm today at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. After that, he will be buried next to the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University.
Earlier, in his address to the nation last Thursday (December 18) night, the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus declared a state mourning today. That night, the Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard. Special prayers were held in mosques yesterday (December 19) at the request of the Ministry of Religion to pray for the forgiveness of Osman Hadi’s soul. Special prayers were also organized at other religious institutions seeking the peace of his soul. It is worth noting that Hadi died at 9:30 pm last Thursday (December 18) while undergoing treatment at the Singapore General Hospital. The next day, his body was brought home yesterday evening. On December 12, miscreants shot Hadi in the head on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. He was first treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Singapore by air ambulance on December 15 for better treatment.
