Mystery of farmer’s murder solved in 72 hours

The district police have solved the complex mystery of the murder of farmer Monir Molla (55) in Kaliganj, Gazipur in just 72 hours. Behind this unidentified murder was a long-standing personal dispute and tension over women, which ultimately turned into a brutal murder.
At a press conference in the conference room of the district police office on Tuesday (December 9) evening, Gazipur Police Superintendent Md. Sharif Uddin said that at 4:30 pm on December 6, Monir Molla, son of the deceased Md. Abul Hossain of Ulukhola Parabarta area of ​​Kaliganj, went out to go to Selim Mia’s tea shop next to his house. On the same day, around 7:30 pm, his wife Josna Begum and relatives received news that Monir Molla’s body was lying in the field east of the Forest Beat Office in Sector No. 24 of Purbachal town of Nagri Union. Unknown miscreants brutally stabbed him in both legs with sharp weapons and killed him.
Upon learning of the matter, members of the Ulukhola police camp went to the spot, prepared an autopsy report and sent the body to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue. Considering the importance of the incident, the district detective police immediately started a shadow investigation under the supervision of the police superintendent. When Monir Mollah’s wife filed a case against unknown accused in the incident, an agile team of the DB led by Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Md. Aminul Islam and Investigation Officer SI (Retd.) Md. Jamal Uddin went to the spot and was able to determine the root cause of the incident with the help of information technology, intelligence information and local sources.
At the press conference, the police superintendent said that the victim Monir Mollah and the arrested Bedon Mridha were childhood friends. The main reason for the murder was a woman-centric problem, a long-standing misunderstanding and a bitter dispute arising from personal grudges. The arrested Bedon Mridha admitted these facts during police interrogation. Based on the investigation, on December 8 at 2:30 pm, Md. Bedon Mridha (55), son of the deceased Sameer Uddin Mridha, was arrested from his house in Parabarta (Tekpara) area of ​​Joydebpur. Later, when he was handed over to the court, he gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The joint investigation of the district detective police and the police station is continuing to verify whether anyone else is involved in this incident. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Abu Khair, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operation) Khandaker Ashfaquzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Md. Aminul Islam and other senior officials of the district police were also present at the briefing on the progress of the murder case.
