‘My opponent has destroyed my stage, I am giving a speech standing in a car’
BNP’s former deputy international affairs secretary and recently expelled leader of Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail, Ashuganj and Bijoynagar parts) constituency Barrister Rumin Farhana said, ‘I had a stage in Aruil College ground, my opponent destroyed this stage. Today I have been forced to go door to door, finally I am giving a speech standing in a car.’
Rumin Farhana said these words while standing in her car in Aruil Bazar yesterday, Monday (January 5) afternoon. She said, ‘You will give a befitting reply to this injustice on February 12. InshaAllah, if Allah elects another member of parliament with your votes. Then I will give a new look to these two upazilas, including roads, bridges and culverts, InshaAllah.’
After the public reception in Aruil, she told the residents of Pakshimul Union, ‘There is nothing to fear in Rumin Farhana’s ground. You have seen that after August 5, when I was in Rumin Farhana’s party, I spoke against extortion, lawsuits and filing cases against people who did not pay money everywhere in Bangladesh. I did not like this truth. When you are in the opposition party, the truth tastes sweet, but when you are in the government, the truth tastes bitter. My job is to tell the truth, and I will tell the truth. A year ago, I spoke about extortion and lawsuits, sand trading, land grabbing and shop grabbing, but I was told that it is not right to say such things.’
Anyway, Barrister Rumin Farhana was seeking the BNP party nomination in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency. Allama Junaid Al Habib, vice-president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh, has been nominated as the BNP alliance candidate in this constituency. Rumin Farhana is contesting this constituency as an independent candidate after not getting the nomination. After screening the nominations, the Returning Officer declared Rumin Farhana’s candidacy valid.
It is worth noting that Rumin Farhana and SN Tarun Dey were expelled from the posts of Joint International Affairs Secretary of the National Executive Committee on December 30 for defying the party’s decision to contest as independent candidates.
