‘My mother has left the land of Bengal’
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. After receiving the news of her death, leaders and activists rushed to Evercare Hospital. They broke down in tears after hearing the news of the leader’s death. Begum Khaleda Zia died at 6 am today (December 30). Begum Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on November 23. She has been undergoing treatment there since then.
When she went to Evercare, the leaders and activists broke down in tears after hearing the news of Khaleda Zia’s death. Some were seen falling to the ground crying. Some leaders and activists were crying profusely. One of them lamented, ‘My mother has left the land of Bengal. O land of Bengal, what have you lost!’ What will Bangladesh lose!’
In a tearful voice, BNP candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency, Dhaka Metropolitan BNP leader and former General Secretary of Chhatra Dal Habibur Rashid Habib said, “The people of Bangladesh dreamed of democracy because of Khaleda Zia. Ever since she was admitted to the hospital due to illness, the people of the country have been praying for her.
He also said, “We hope that Khaleda Zia’s dream of building a country will be fulfilled by the hand of patriot Tarique Rahman. This is my prayer to the countrymen.” Khaleda Zia fell ill after returning home after the Armed Forces Day celebrations on November 21. Her breathing problems increased. In this condition, she was taken to the capital’s Evercare Hospital on an emergency basis on November 23. Uncompromising leader Khaleda Zia was active in politics for more than four decades. At the time of her death, the leader was 80 years old. She was the wife of former Bangladesh President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. This leader, popular among female prime ministers in the country and abroad, including South Asia, passed away today, bringing tears to the eyes of countrymen, party leaders, supporters and followers.
