Munshiganj: A public chase with weapons over a comment on Facebook
A public chase with weapons over an objectionable comment on Facebook has been reported in Munshiganj. The incident took place in the Islampur area of the city around 10 pm on Monday (February 23). Eyewitnesses said that a dispute was going on between Roknaddaula Rafsan, member secretary of the Government Harganga College Chhatra Dal, and a young man named Rabbi over a comment on Facebook.
When Rafsan asked Rabbi why he had made the comment, an argument and fight broke out between the two sides. Later, when people from both sides gathered to discuss the matter, a man named Raja, who was on Rafsan’s side, was seen chasing him with a weapon.
Saiful Islam, who was on Rabbi’s side, complained in this regard and said, ‘I am the brother of July Shaheed Sajal.’ Chhatra Dal leader Rafsan beat up my relative Rabbi and threatened to close the shop due to comments on social media and Raja, a resident of Islampur area, chased him with a weapon. He said that preparations are underway to file a complaint with the police station in this regard.
On the other hand, Roknaddaula Rafsan, member secretary of Harganga College Chhatra Dal, said, a boy was constantly coming to my Facebook and making various bad comments. When I asked him to be restrained, he abused me in foul language. Later, in July, he called Shaheed Sajal’s brother Saifal and another relative Junaid and threatened me.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Md. Mominul Islam said, I have come to know about the comments on Facebook. Legal action will be taken soon, including the recovery of weapons.
