Muazzin’s body found hanging from bridge railing in Nawabganj
The police have recovered the hanging body of an old man named Rafiq Kabiraj (70) from a bridge railing in the Shankarkhali area of Dhaka’s Nawabganj upazila. He was a member of Tablighi Jamaat and a muazzin at a local mosque. His body was recovered from the railing of a bridge adjacent to Shankarkhali Government Primary School early this Sunday (November 9).
Neighbor Asma Begum said, “Rafiq Kabiraj had left his house to offer Fajr prayers this morning. His body was found hanging from the railing of the bridge in the morning. I still don’t understand why he died.” Upon receiving the information, Nawabganj police station visited the scene and started a preliminary investigation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nawabganj police station Mominul Islam told us, “The real cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report. Those concerned will be questioned if necessary.” The incident of this sudden death has created a sensation in the area. The death of the muezzin has raised various questions and suspicions among the locals. Police said that an investigation is underway considering all aspects.
